Join in celebrating WCU’s deep community roots with a reception at the Jackson County Public Library in Sylva. Meet Chancellor Kelli R. Brown and her husband Dennis, tour library exhibits, visit the Jackson County Historical and Genealogical Society offices, and enjoy a reading by Holly Kays, author of “Trailblazers & Traditionalists: Modern Day Smoky Mountain People."

We bring the installation celebration to Asheville with a reception for students, faculty, staff, alumni and our friends in the Asheville community. Chancellor Brown and Dennis Brown will be on hand and the chancellor will share informal remarks.

Students and members of the campus community celebrate in an old- fashioned cookout before the Catamount baseball team takes on Gardner-Webb. Bring your friends and co-workers and enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs and ice cream. Be a part of the installation celebration and stay to cheer on your Catamounts!

As a part of WCU’s campus-wide Research and Scholarship Conference, the Undergraduate Research Expo featuring more than 200 student presenters working with nearly 60 faculty sponsors. This is truly a day to celebrate the undergraduate research as a crucial element of WCU.

In a continued celebration of academic excellence and the pursuit of knowledge, the symposium’s keynote speaker, Alvin Malesky, Jr., professor and head of WCU’s Psychology Department, will discuss “Sustainability of the Self” as part of the installation week’s activities. Come out and celebrate the work of our graduate students and their contributions to research in their chosen field.
March 26 | 5:30 – 7:15 p.m.
A performance showcase featuring students and faculty from the David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts, along with regional performers and community friends, will include selections from the School of Stage and Screen's upcoming production of “BRING IT ON,” as well as the Cherokee Chamber Singers, and other vocal and instrumental performances. This engaging performance is free, but seating is limited and tickets must be reserved online.
March 27 | 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Dr. William Roper, president of the UNC System, will preside over the installation ceremony which will officially install Kelli R. Brown as the 12th chancellor of Ƶapp. Dignitaries and delegates will bring greetings and the WCU Symphonic Band and WCU Concert Choir will provide a number of musical selections.
