Exhibition Information
Everyone鈥檚 brain is wired differently. The Way I'm Wired: Artist Reflections on Neurodiversity invites artists to share their lived experiences with neurodiversity and how these experiences have impacted their work as an artist.

The term 鈥渘eurodiversity,鈥 first used by sociologist Judy Singer in the 1990s, is the idea that everyone鈥檚 brain is wired differently. We each think, learn, and relate to those around us in a wide variety of ways. While society conditions us to perceive certain types of brain functioning as 鈥渘ormal鈥 and others as 鈥渁bnormal,鈥 neurodiversity encourages us to think outside this binary and to see neurological differences as a natural form of human variation, each deserving of respect, acceptance, and understanding.

This exhibition aligns with the 2022-2023 campus theme of Mental Health and Wellness and connects with this year鈥檚 campus One Book鈥Normal Sucks: How to Live, Learn, and Thrive, Outside the Lines by Jonathan Mooney. To learn more about WCU's campus theme, follow the LINK.
