National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)

Each year, Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp supports a limited number of students in applying for and attending the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR).  Students accepted to NCUR have the opportunity to present their undergraduate research along with peers from across disciplines.

New this year:

Academic Project Grants (APGs) will now include individual travel requests to attend the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) There will no longer be university-designated coordination for logistics for individual or group travel to NCUR. All logistics will be handled at the individual/department level just as local, regional, and other national conference travel is handled.

NCUR, the National Conference of Undergraduate Research, is the annual national conference hosted by the Council of Undergraduate Research for student research across all disciplines. This year’s conference will be held in-person in Pittsburgh, PA, April 7 - 9, 2025.

Since 1987, NCUR has been a flagship conference for undergraduate researchers to share, celebrate, and promote their research achievements. WCU students have participated in disseminating their research and scholarship at this national conference for over a decade. In the past, WCU has been supporting a limited number of students in applying for and attending NCUR, while the Brinson Honors College (BHC) and the Office of Research Administration (ORA) have coordinated the details and logistics for this conference.

Previously, BHC and ORA coordinated all logistics for NCUR. There will no longer be university-designated coordination for logistics for individual or group travel to NCUR. All logistics will be handled at the individual/department level.

Yes! WCU has a long tradition of supporting undergraduate student's creative and research-based projects. ORA has set aside funding for travel expenses to NCUR. Students can apply for $1250 in funding support from ORA. Additionally, departments may have funding support available to supplement the cost of travel.

Funding opportunities are available for students interested in conducting research or creative inquiry and traveling to disseminate research. We have decided to combine the application and review process for NCUR and Academic Program Grant Awards (APGs). Departmental funding may also be available to you. Please check with your department administrators and professors for supplemental funding needs.

APGs can be used for travel support to disseminate your research at local, regional, and national conferences. Awards can also be used for equipment and supplies to complete your research.

Find more information on the APG process.

By implementing this new process, we can improve efficiency and streamline operations.
